Report on Policies on integration and diversity in some OSCE participating States commissioned by the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities and produced by the Migration Policy Group.

The report on Policies on integration and diversity in some OSCE participating States was commissioned by the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) in response to a request by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly to “initiate a comparative study of the integration policies of established democracies and analyse the effect on the position of new minorities.”

It was produced by the Migration Policy Group and includes the OSCE HCNM’s comments and conclusions.

The first chapter deals with the changing composition of the population in the seven countries (Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK) studied for the report. The second chapter outlines the role of governments in integration. The third chapter elaborates on equality and anti-discrimination as key principles. The fourth chapter addresses political participation. The fifth chapter looks at economic integration. The sixth chapter deals with access to services, focusing on education, healthcare and housing. The seventh and final chapter turns to diversity and describes policies that deal with some of the many aspects of cultural and linguistic diversity.
